In fields near A Coruña, and by ourselves, our hobby begins. But, bit by bit, hobbyist are coming together in the marshes called Betanzos. It was in this place where it all begins, people was experimenting with models of a certain quality and hence the need to organize and fight for convert this hobby into a normal activity and compatible with everyday life. This was the first step, the seed of what is now known as Aeromodelling Club As Gaivotas.
After many situations, efforts, intentions, ideas ... 1983 was the birth of the then called Cambre Flight Club, who, at first, tried to unite all air activity in the area, not just the model plane, which later would result in our Current club.
At this point in our history, we depended for legal purposes of the FENDA (Spanish Federation of Air Sports). It was a distant institution, since its headquarters was in Madrid and its distance was evident in our activity. With the advent of the Spanish autonomous regions, around the year 1985, the club participates in the formation of FEGADA or Galega Air Sports Federation, which today is the FAG.

Over time, the club was changing location to have the first official flight field, the field of Guísamo, which later would have to leave because they would become part of the land expropriated for the construction of a section of the AP- 9 Guísamo - Ferrol.highway. At this field, we were about 5 years. The next field would be in the industrial area of Bergondo. This location was short in time. From there, we passed to one of our airfields, located at A Queimada, in the City of Oza dos Ríos, a field that is owned by the club.

With this new facility and with the expected stability, the club began to grow in every way, both as partners and activities. Every year, the club organizes different activities related to model airplanes. And our members continue to evolve their models from those sturdy but archaic balsa airplanes, until today, where we can see some turbines and high-performance sailplanes. |
